Brad Pitt has been dismissed from jury duty, but not before the movie superstar fronted court in the US to do his civil service.

The Ocean's 13 star had been called as a juror in a DUI case, but he was excused overnight after the defendant pleaded "no contest".

Pitt and his fellow jurors were set to enter the US courtroom when a lawyer alerted the judge to a plea agreement, reported www.TMZ.com

And while the regular jurors were told to wait in a hallway, Pitt was given his own private waiting room.

Pitt could now be assigned to another case.

Other stars to have been called for jury duty include David Letterman, Michael Jackson, Naomi Campbell, Harvey Keitel, Kevin Bacon, Woody Allen, Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan and Oprah Winfrey.
