Ellen DeGeneres on W, March 2007

ellendegeneresW.jpg

Ellen DeGeneres is all glammed up on the cover of W magazine's March issue.

The actress/comedian who is hosting the Oscars on Feb. 25 talks about red carpet and fashion in the interview with W with her partner, Portia de Rossi by her side.

W: Do you enjoy fashion?
ED: I usually wear Jil Sander, or I wear Marc Jacobs, or I wear Viktor & Rolf.... I love Raf Simons, but I didn’t know he was even doing the [Jil Sander] collection. I like Neil Barrett. I love clothes, so when I wear clothes, they’re usually somebody’s. You know, I’m not wearing Kmart.

W: Do you think that’s the perception?
ED: Whenever Portia and I are on the red carpet, they’re yelling out for her to tell them what she’s wearing. But nobody cares [about what I’m wearing] because I have a suit on, even if it’s a Gucci suit. That to me is frustrating, because I put effort into getting ready too. But I guess it’s not as important, and I’m not as dressed up somehow. I also feel myself more of a person than a gender. When people show me clothing that seems very, very feminine, it’s hard for me to embrace that, because it just doesn’t feel like me.... It was fun [for the shoot] having somebody do that to my hair, and do that makeup. But would I want to do that every single day? No.

W: What will you wear to the Oscars?
ED: Everybody’s sending me stuff. Gucci sent me this amazing package with all kinds of different designs and different fabrics, in a beautiful box with my name engraved in gold plate. I picked some fabrics, and they’re making me something. Zac Posen made me a gorgeous tuxedo. Viktor & Rolf is making me something.... I wasn’t planning on changing because it’s just different suits, but I may do it, because I’d like to thank them all for making me stuff, for wanting to do that.

W: What do you think of Kathy Griffin?
ED: Very mean.... I know she had a big thing about wanting to be on the show, and we didn’t book her. She did a whole thing that I banned her from the show. I didn’t ban her from the show, because first you have to be on the show to be banned.

W: What about Sarah Silverman?
ED: I think she’s hilarious. I think she’s raunchy as can be, not my kind of comedy, but I think she’s brilliant. Smart counts for a whole lot to me.

W: Borat?

ED: Sacha? I think Sacha [Baron Cohen], again, is brilliant. He’s a friend of mine. I think he’s hilarious. I haven’t seen Borat, so I can’t really speak [about it] yet. I don’t like bathroom humor and I know that there’s some pretty gross stuff in there. But some of the stuff he does is hilarious—as long as everybody is clear on the fact that he’s pointing out how scary a lot of people are.

W hits newsstands in New York Friday and is available nationwide Feb. 23.

Snickers Superbowl Ad met with disgust

A Snickers bar is so scrumptious it brings two men into a full blown lip lock: A step forward for the gay community on television, until you see the reaction that follows.

The public can go to www.Snickers.com and vote on alternative endings to a commercial that finds two auto mechanics munching through opposite ends of a Snickers bar until they meet in a passionate kiss.

The reaction was disgust as they rip all of the hair from their chest. Or, as you find from watching the alternate endings, downing a jug of motor oil and smashing the other’s head under the hood of a car.

The largest gay civil rights group has called on Mars to remove the offensive content. Snickers has since pulled the Web site containing the homophobic ads and commentary. Still no word from Snickers about the entire affair.

Ellen about Portia: I've found my perfect fit

ellenportiagame.jpg

Ellen DeGeneres says she's been happy in relationships before – but not the kind of happy that she feels with Portia de Rossi.

DeGeneres, who is set to host the Academy Awards on Feb. 25, tells The Advocate in its new issue that she's reached a different level of contentment with her actress girlfriend of two years.

"I could say the same thing I've said in every relationship: 'I'm happy.' But there's happiness and there's love, and then there's completion," the Emmy-winning talk-show host says. "It doesn't take away from any of the relationships that I've had, 'cause I've had amazing relationships. ... But I feel like I found my perfect fit."

DeGeneres, who turned 49 Friday, and de Rossi, who will be 34 on Wednesday, began dating in late 2004.

One key to their happiness, says DeGeneres, is that they learn things from each other. "She's taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I've taught her," says DeGeneres. "We've both changed and grown, and we just feel like, 'Oh, OK, this is completion.' "

In September 2005, de Rossi told The Advocate that her relationship with DeGeneres was "very loving, peaceful," adding, "I really feel not alone for the first time in my life."

In the new interview, DeGeneres also reveals how jazzed she is to be hosting the Academy Awards. "There's a nervousness, but there's also an excitement," she says. "You want to do your best, naturally, but it's also just letting it happen once you're out there."

The hosting gig means she won't get to walk the red carpet with de Rossi. But actually, that's okay, says DeGeneres: "When we're together and she's in her heels, I always feel like Tom Cruise next to Nicole Kidman."

Daniel Craig wants a gay love scene in the next Bond movie

danielcraiggun.jpg

Daniel Craig is urging movie bosses to revolutionise the James Bond franchise by including a gay scene involving the superspy in the follow-up to Casino Royale.

The heart-throb actor has also reportedly told studio chiefs he is prepared to film a full frontal nude scene to please both his male and female admirers.

He says: "Why not? I think in this day and age, fans would have accepted it.

"I mean, look at Doctor Who - that has had gay scenes in it and no one blinks an eye."

Bette's New Love Interest

marleematlin.jpgShowtime's The L Word is bringing in Marlee Matlin, an Oscar winning actress, to play Bette Porter's love interest in Season 3.

The 40-year-old actress will play "a fiery artist who catches the attention of Jennifer Beals' character, Bette Porter," the cable network announced Friday.

Hopefully this will bring Tina back to Bette since she will now have a competitor. I'm a huge fan of TiBette and will hate to see them go their own ways.

Loving Annabelle... loving it

lovingannanabelle.jpg

What's a Catholic boarding school teacher to do when she falls in love with one of her students? Based on the 1931 German film, Maedchen in Uniform, director Katharine Brooks' Loving Annabelle gives a modern retelling of a love story that continues to be controversial in 2006.

The film explores the complexity of love and the struggle of two women who have every reason not to feel the way they do. Loving Annabelle takes a poignant and honest look at a relationship that’s as taboo as it is pure-hearted, at a love that dares to push all boundaries.

This Campari Commercial in the UK is a finalist for the 2005 Epica award. I thought the man look a little Japanese at first. It just goes to show that you can't tell people by their appearance these days. A very creative one indeed.
