Dolce & Gabbana withdraws controversial ad

Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has branded Spain as being 'behind the times' for demanding it withdraw a controversial advertising campaign, a newspaper reported.
Dolce & Gabbana plans to pull the advertisement, which shows a man holding a woman to the ground by her wrists while a group of men look on, following complaints from consumers' groups.
La Vanguardia newspaper quoted the Milan-based fashion house as saying:
"We will only withdraw this photo from the Spanish market. They're a bit behind the times."
Dolce & Gabbana, known for their risque clothes and adverts, declined to comment on the matter.
Spain's Labour and Social Affairs Ministry branded the campaign as illegal and humiliating to women, saying the woman's body position had no relation to the products Dolce & Gabbana were trying to sell.
"One could infer from the advertisement that it is acceptable to use force as a way of imposing oneself on a woman, reinforced by the passive and complicit manner of the men looking on."
Dolce & Gabbana defended the campaign as art in comments reported by La Vanguardia.
"What has an artistic photo got to do with a real act?"
"You would have to burn museums like the Louvre or the paintings of Caravaggio."

The Departed wins Best Picture
The mob epic "The Departed" topped the 79th annual Academy Awards Sunday night in Los Angeles, winning four Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director for Martin Scorsese.
Scorsese couldn't help but allude to his previous six Oscar losses -- five of them coming for Best Director.
"Could you double-check the envelope?" a jovial Scorsese asked presenters Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
Scorsese also alluded to the trio during his acceptance speech.
"I'm overwhelmed with this honor from the Academy and also the honor of being presented by three of my old friends. We go back 37 years," said Scorsese. "I'm so moved. I'm so moved."
Scorsese's win was immediately followed by the film's Best Picture announcement, by actress Diane Keaton and "Departed" star Jack Nicholson.
"To be here where Martin Scorsese won his Oscar is such a joy, such a joy," said "The Departed's" producer Graham King.
"The Departed" also earned Oscars for William Monahan for Best Adapted Screenplay and longtime Scorsese collaborator Thelma Schoonmaker for Best Editing.

Snickers Superbowl Ad met with disgust
A Snickers bar is so scrumptious it brings two men into a full blown lip lock: A step forward for the gay community on television, until you see the reaction that follows.
The public can go to www.Snickers.com and vote on alternative endings to a commercial that finds two auto mechanics munching through opposite ends of a Snickers bar until they meet in a passionate kiss.
The reaction was disgust as they rip all of the hair from their chest. Or, as you find from watching the alternate endings, downing a jug of motor oil and smashing the other’s head under the hood of a car.
The largest gay civil rights group has called on Mars to remove the offensive content. Snickers has since pulled the Web site containing the homophobic ads and commentary. Still no word from Snickers about the entire affair.

Helen Mirren & Jack Nicholson - Sexiest Older People
Dame Helen Mirren has been crowned as the world's sexiest older woman by her faithful fans.
The Queen actress, 61, who has bagged the top Oscar nod for her lauded performance as Her Majesty, tops a list of female stars who have passed the over-50 mark.
She has won the race, beating out none other than Sophia Loren - one of cinema's greatest sex symbols. The Italian screen siren, 72, came in second in the poll.
US star Meryl Streep, 57, also contending for the best actress Oscar for her role in The Devil Wears Prada, was third, followed by Judi Dench, 72, another of this year's Academy Award nominees.
Diane Keaton, 61, rounded off the top five.
In the men's category, Something's Gotta Give actor Jack Nicholson, 69, has been voted the sexiest older man, reports The Daily Mail.
Bond legend Sean Connery, 76, was next, followed by Robert Redford, 70, Clint Eastwood, 76, and Dreamgirls star Danny Glover, 60, in the poll of 2,700 film fans.
"Older actors have never been so sought after in Tinseltown and it's great to see the Brits flying the flag so high, especially in the Oscar nominations," said Fliss White, marketing manager for Lovefilm.com, which carried out the survey.

Actor Peter 'Frank Barone' Boyle Dies

Veteran actor Peter Boyle, who played the crabby father of Ray Romano on the CBS comedy "Everbody Loves Raymond," died Tuesday night in New York.
Boyle was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Philadelphia. He left a calling as a Christian monk in the 1950s to become an actor, and in 1970, he won acclaim playing an intolerant factory worker in the movie "Joe."
In 1974, Boyle joined Mel Brooks to star as the famous monster in "Young Frankenstein." Boyle reportedly was in full monster make-up for the film when he met his future wife, Rolling Stone reporter Loraine Alterman Boyle.
The veteran character actor died Tuesday evening in New York after a long battle with multiple myeloma and heart disease

Size 20 is now in
Jean Paul Gaultier puts a larger model down the catwalk to show off his clothes.
Dressed in a daring black corsetry, the plus-sized model dwarfed her fellow waif-like catwalk queens.
Clearly more of a size 20 than the controversial model Size 0, this voluptuous woman proved big is beautiful as she strutted down the runway at Gaultier's 30th anniversary show yesterday during fashion week in Paris.

Dustin Diamond explains sex tape

Taken off a press release from the Headline News program "Showbiz Tonight," former teen TV star Dustin Diamond of Saved By The Bell explains himself.
Here's what the release said:
"The sex tape got out because Diamond and some buddies have a "monthly gathering" wherein they exchange such tapes which earn points based on "what [we're] able to accomplish" on the tapes: "We do it almost like poker. [The tape] could have been left out in anybody's home, machine, computer."
"The people that are involved in this group [of friends who exchange tapes] are all 'profile people.'" Diamond doesn't believe any of those people leaked the tape, but perhaps a significant other of one of them did.
Diamond admits the tape has "caused turmoil on the home front."
"We've been doing it for a while, and we didn't think it was a problem. Apparently, it is a problem."
Diamond's words for David Hans Schmidt, the man peddling the tape (also known as the "Sultan of Sleaze"): "You're a scumbag." Diamond also says he will fight this "tooth and nail" to fight the distribution of the tape, and that while Schmidt may have won "the little battles, he won't win the war -- nice try, though!"
Diamond denies the rumor that he secretly knew about the tape's release and was hoping it would boost his career. He says the tape was "private" and not meant for anybody else. It was not released with his approval and he does not condone its being out there. Will Diamond eventually cash in on this tape, if offered a distribution deal? "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

Lonelygirl15 is a hoax

The team behind the lonelygirl15 YouTube mystery has come forward, claiming that lonelygirl15 is part of their "show" and thanking their fans effusively for tuning in to "the birth of a new art form." They are not, they insisted, "a big corporation."
After amateur sleuths uncovered apparent links between the Creative Artists Agency and the official lonelygirl15 MySpace page, a statement claiming to be from "The Creators" was posted on the lonelygirl15 website late Thursday. It read in part:
"Our intention from the outset has been to tell a story — A story that could only be told using the medium of video blogs and the distribution power of the Internet. A story that is interactive and constantly evolving with the audience."
The statement sidestepped the issue of lonelygirl15's real identity, saying cryptically, "Right now, the biggest mystery of Lonelygirl15 is 'who is she?' We think this is an oversimplification. Lonelygirl15 is a reflection of everyone."
The statement's authors wrote that they are "in the process of building a website centered around video and interactivity."
Along with her friend "Daniel," lonelygirl15 appears in a series of video blogs, confessional screeds spoken into a video camera and posted on websites such as YouTube. Since June, viewers have questioned whether the videos really depicted a home-schooled, shy girl named "Bree, or whether they were part of some larger project or promotional scheme.

Do you find racist jokes funny?
From ‘Love Thy Neighbour’
Bill: You’ve been conditioned by your society. Eddie: Just a minute, what’s wrong with our society? Bill: It supports discrimination against black people. Eddie: No more than you do against us whites. Jill: Well have you ever seen a black MP? Eddie: No but I’ve never seen a white witch doctor either.
From ‘The Catherine Tate Show’
M: Gran, I’m going for a Chinese takeaway. Gran: Don’t do that, their faces make me feel sick.
From 'The Office'
David: The Royal Family are seating around the table at Christmas dinner. Camilla says, "Let's play 20 Questions." And she’s thinking of a black man’s cock so Harry asks, "Is it bigger than the bread bin?" Yes. Prince Charles questions, "Can I put it in my mouth?" Yes. The Queen blurts out, "Is it a black man's cock?"
By Ann Winterton in an after-dinner speech
There was an Englishman, a Cuban, a Japanese man and a Pakistani on a train. The Cuban throws a cigar out of the window, saying they are "ten-a-penny" in his country. The Japanese man throws a Nikon camera out, saying they are ten-a-penny in his country. Then the Englishman throws the Pakistani out the window.
