Kiera Knightly hates talking on the phone

Keira Knightley hates talking on the phone.
The actress deliberately ignores her mobile when it rings, much to the displeasure of her mother.
Keira said:
"My mobile phone doesn't really get answered a lot. I don't like talking on the phone, which is a nightmare because my mother does."
Keira, who is currently filming 'The Edge of Love' in Wales with fellow British actress Sienna Miller, once even threw her BlackBerry handset into the sea so nobody could contact her.
She said:
"I hurled it in the sea when I was working in the Bahamas doing 'Pirates of the Caribbean', so it's in the ocean there somewhere.
"I didn't mean to. I did actually go back and try and find it, but I was in a fit. I was like, 'I don't want to be contacted. Leave me alone.' "
Keira, 22, recently threatened to "quit" making movies because she is "sick of being a celebrity and wants a life instead".

Diaz offended Peruvians with her bag

Actress Cameron Diaz appears to have committed a major fashion faux pas in Peru.
The voice of Princess Fiona in the animated "Shrek" films may have inadvertently offended Peruvians who suffered decades of violence from a Maoist guerrilla insurgency by touring here Friday with a bag emblazoned with one of Mao Zedong's favorite political slogans.
While explored the Inca city of Machu Picchu high in Peru's Andes, Diaz wore over her shoulder an olive green messenger bag emblazoned with a red star and the words "Serve the People" printed in Chinese on the flap, perhaps Chinese Communist leader Mao's most famous political slogan.

While the bags are marketed as trendy fashion accessories in some world capitals, the phrase has particular resonance in Peru, where the Maoist Shining Path insurgency brought Peru to edge of chaos in the 1980s and early 1990s with a campaign of massacres, assassinations and bombings.
Nearly 70,000 people were killed during the insurgency.
A prominent Peruvian human rights activist said the star of "There's Something About Mary" should have been a little more aware of local sensitivities when picking her accessories.
"It alludes to a concept that did so much damage to Peru, that brought about so many victims," said Pablo Rojas about the bag's slogan. "I don't think she should have used that bag where the followers of that ideology" did so much damage.

Isaiah Washington: They fired the wrong guy

The former Dr. Preston Burke on ABC's hit series Grey's Anatomy told the Houston Chronicle that T.R. Knight should have been fired from the show instead of him.
Washington was let go on June 7, just a month before filming for the new season was to begin. He has been slammed with negative publicity since October. That's when he allegedly used an anti-gay slur during an on-set disagreement with co-star Patrick Dempsey.
The Houston native's interviews with the media since then have been limited.
"I have to clear my name," a determined Washington told the Houston Chronicle in a telephone interview from the set of his new movie, The Least of These. "I'll start from the beginning. I'm telling everything. So here's the truth."
Washington said Knight, who plays Dr. George O'Malley, stirred up the notion that the slur was targeted at him and created a negative work environment. Washington also alleged that Knight likely wanted a salary increase and a more substantive role for his character.
Knight, who acknowledged that he was gay after the incident, told Ellen DeGeneres in January that Washington used the slur against him and that "everyone (on the set) heard it."
Washington said:
"That's a lie. I used the word during a disagreement with Patrick. I apologized for that. We shook hands and went back to work."
He said he is considering a lawsuit.

Nicole Richie's trial postponed

Nicole Richie on Tuesday was granted a three-week postponement before she stands trial on DUI charges in Los Angeles, People reports.
But judge Steven Lubell, who set a new trial date of July 11, said he'd allow no further delays, Reuters reports. He had already postponed the original trial from June 25 at Richie's lawyers' request.
Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, told Reuters:
"She has two options: Either she goes to trial or she changes her 'not guilty' plea."
Richie, 25, was not present at the hearing Tuesday. Because of a prior DUI conviction in June 2003, by California law, she faces mandatory jail time (90 days to one year) if convicted of a second DUI within 10 years.
Earlier this month Richie told David Letterman she was "scared" of going to jail like pal Paris Hilton, now behind bars for violating probation after her own DUI arrest.
But Robison said Richie's case would not be affected by the media frenzy surrounding Hilton's jail term. "For us it's taken on a case-by-case basis," she told Reuters. "That's a different office, different jurisdiction. It has nothing to do with this case."
Richie pleaded not guilty in February to driving under the influence on Dec. 11. Officers had stopped her after she was spotted driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles highway, and police said she'd admitted to smoking marijuana and taking Vicodin.

Aishwarya Rai to appear in Heroes

The career of the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai has not really hit a lull after her wedding to Abhishek Bachchan .
Close on the heels of her bagging prestigious films with Ram Gopal Varma and Karan Johar , the appreciation for her role in the UK film Provoked and the news that her true blue international project, The Last Legion will see the light of the day, comes the report that Ash has been signed up to star in the top US sci-fi serial Heroes.
According to Heroes-TV.com, Ash will appear in 8 episodes of the up coming series of the NBC show about ‘superhuman’ beings.
It’s been said that Ash will play the role of Dr. Mohinder Suresh’s elder sister Shanti Suresh, and will have a super-power of her own, something which has not yet been disclosed.
This gives Ash a chance to work closely with Sendhil Ramamurthy, an American actor of Indian origin who plays Dr Mohinder Suresh, a genetics professor at the University of Madras that is attempting to find the truth behind the sudden death of his father and continuing his father's research of locating the 'superhuman' beings on Earth.
Ash will reportedly begin shooting in Los Angeles later this month, and is expected to be seen on-screen as early as October of this year.
UPDATE: The news turned out to be false. Heroes-TV has since taken down the news.

Moss restricts Doherty

Kate Moss has reportedly restricted Pete Doherty's forthcoming television interview on The Jonathan Ross Show.
Moss has apparently given Doherty a categorical list of what he can and can't say on the show.
The former Libertines frontman has appeared on the programme once before and he spoke frankly about his relationship with the supermodel, saying: “I love her bones, I always will.”
Moss has given her boyfriend strict rules not to talk about their upcoming wedding or his drug addiction. He is to focus on his music instead of his personal life.

Paris dropped by her talent agent
Paris Hilton has been dropped by her talent agent, People confirms.
"Paris is no longer a client," says Endeavor agency rep Michael Donkis, who declined to specify a reason for the move.
According to a source, Hilton was dropped last Friday – the day she was ordered back to jail from home confinement. The move was announced in a company-wide email, the source says.
The Beverly Hills-based agency has represented Hilton since 2005, handling her deal for The Simple Life.
Hilton, meanwhile, spent her fourth night in the medical ward of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles. She is serving out a 23-day minimum sentence for violating probation in an alcohol-related driving case.

Isaiah Washington not returning to Grey's Anatomy

Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy next season, TV Guide reports.
An ABC Studios spokesperson confirms that the actor's contract option has not been picked up, but declined further comment.
One insider, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, speculated that the decision was likely due only in part to the T.R. Knight homophobic slur scandal and the subsequent fallout. "There was a pattern of problematic behavior going back before he used the F-word. I imagine [his dismissal] was the result of all of that."
Washington's rep, Howard Bragman, confirmed the news, adding that his client was informed by Grey's executive producer Shonda Rhimes earlier today that he was not being invited back to the show. In a statement, Washington, referencing the iconic line from Network, said, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." (He's kidding... I think.)
Plot-wise, it won't be difficult to explain Washington's absence. In last month's season finale, Burke left Cristina at the altar and moved out of their apartment.

Gisele Bundchen slams church
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen stepped into the debate over birth control and sexual behavior in Brazil on Tuesday, saying Church opposition to condom use was ridiculous and women should have the right to choose on abortion.
Gisele is idolized by many young women in Brazil, the world's largest Roman Catholic country, where debate over sexual issues has intensified around a visit by Pope Benedict last month.
The Pope stressed the Church's firm opposition to abortion and contraception and railed against sex outside of marriage.
The Brazilian beauty, one of the world's top models, told Folha de S.Paulo newspaper in an interview that when the Church made its laws centuries ago, women were expected to be virgins.
She said:
"Today no one is a virgin when they get married ... show me someone who's a virgin!".
Asked about abortion, she said a woman should have the right to choose what is best for her.
"If she thinks she doesn't have the money or the emotional condition to raise a child, why should she give birth?"
Gisele, who had just arrived from New York to take part in Rio de Janeiro's Fashion Week, also defended condom use.
"It's ridiculous to ban contraceptives -- you only have to think of the diseases that are transmitted without them. I think it should be compulsory to use a contraceptive."
The Brazilian government has clashed with the church over anti-
AIDS programs in which it distributes millions of free condoms and Health Minister Jose Temporao has called for a national referendum on abortion.
Other Brazilian celebrities have fallen foul of the Vatican over sex issues. Singer
Daniela Mercury was banned from performing at a Vatican Christmas concert in 2005 because she took part in a campaign promoting condom use to prevent AIDS.
She denied rumors she was pregnant.
"Of course I want to have a family in the future. But not at this moment."

Beyonce dances on table

She may be a diva, but there were two fans Beyonce allowed into the VIP area at her London party at the weekend - and they had the best view in the house.
According to The Daily Mail, the 25-year-old singer demanded two huge electric fans be installed at Paper nightclub in Regent Street to help keep her cool.
The result was more like something from one of her music videos as she ended up dancing on the tables with the fans blowing her hair.
One party-goer said:
"She was boogieing to a couple of her own tracks, like Naughty Girl and Beautiful Liar, but she really went crazy when they played the old school favourite Push It by Salt-N-Pepa.
"At one stage she was doing the hair for one of her backing singers, which looked quite sweet. She certainly seemed really easy going."
The Crazy In Love singer, whose new fiance Jay-Z is in Cannes, has been in London since Saturday and has been staying at the Mandarin Oriental.
She has been spotted around town with with her younger sister Solange.

Beyonce wowed clubbers in the early hours yesterday after performing at Wembley Arena. She took her 30-strong entourage, which included all her backing dancers and singers, to Paper where they partied until 3.30am.
Beyonce began the evening by grabbing a microphone and saying "hi" to the crowd on the dancefloor.
But it wasn't all sweetness. She allowed photographers to take pictures for only 15 seconds, and banned smoking in Paper's VIP room to protect her voice.
That's a bit more like the Beyonce we all know.

Media Gather Outside California Jail
The world's press has converged on the California jail that will house Paris Hilton for her three-week sentence in the hope of capturing the heiress’s arrival.
Photographers, reporters and television crews have staked out positions at three entrances to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.
The authorities are being very accommodating to the media and have cordoned off a grassy area outside the jail especially for members of the press.
Some of the prison’s inmates were less welcoming, however. Susannah Johnson, who was released on Saturday after a one-day stay at the jail, said:
"The only advice I could give her when she comes is to shut her mouth and do the time."
Hilton has been ordered to turn herself in by Tuesday to begin her sentence for violating a driving ban but as of Saturday night the socialite had yet to appear.

Hugh Grant will not face charges
British actor Hugh Grant will not face charges over allegedly kicking a photographer and attacking him with baked beans, state prosecutors said Friday.
Film star Grant, 46, was arrested over the alleged incident -- photographs of which appeared in newspapers -- near his west London home in April.
A spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said:
"We have advised the police that there is insufficient evidence to charge Hugh Grant with any offence in relation to an allegation that he kicked a photographer.
"This is because there were clear discrepancies between the accounts of independent witnesses and those of the photographers involved.
"In relation to a second allegation involving a take-away food container, the CPS decided that a prosecution would not be in the public interest."
She said "the minimal nature of the alleged assault and the lack of pre-meditation on the part of Mr Grant" were also among the reasons for the decision.
