Paula denies being high

Paula Abdul lashes out at those who've hinted she might be high at times - including fellow "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell.
Abdul said in an interview in the new OK! magazine:
"I'm sick of it - I've never been drunk, and I don't do recreational drugs. It all started with Cowell, when he made a funny accusation that something was in my Coca-Cola cup. And whenever he says, 'Nobody understands [what you're saying], Paula.'"
Abdul does take prescription drugs for pain she still suffers after a 1993 plane crash.
"I quit my career. For the next six years, I spent 75% of my time in the hospital. I was also hit by a drunk driver on the freeway after an L.A. Lakers game in 1987, which is when I started getting severe neck pains. I have four titanium plates in my neck. I've had 14 surgeries over the years.
"I inject myself with a shot of Humira every two weeks. ... I also use Enbrel and Relafen [an anti-inflammatory drug] and the painkiller Lidocaine. If I appear exhausted on television, it's because I am! I have a lot of sleepless nights because I'm in so much pain. I was taking far more medication on earlier seasons, and nobody said anything."
It couldn't have helped when Abdul broke her nose earlier this month after taking a spill rather than step on her dog, Tulip. The former choreographer, who turns 45 on June 19, also tells OK! that she's never had plastic surgery, but admits to Botox.
"Nothing. Check behind my ears! I haven't had one ounce of work done. ... I had [Botox] done for the first time six weeks ago in my forehead, and it only worked for about two weeks."
And with a parting shot to her acid-tongued co-judge, Abdul quipped with a wink:
"Simon doesn't have any wrinkles."

Clooney was called 'dirty old man'
Hollywood actor George Clooney was called a 'dirty old man' by the children of his Ocean's Thirteen co-stars, it has been revealed.
Gorgeous George claims that on the set of the sequel he was surrounded by Brad Pitt and Matt Damon's kids, who use him as a play pal and call him a 'dirty old man'.
"(They call me) Dirty man, dirty old man. Usually they hit me in the head with a water balloon and then run off laughing," Clooney was quoted as saying.
However, Damon insists that the lighthearted and playful Clooney is an outstanding babysitter.
"It all works out, he fits in with the kids. It usually tends to be, 'Let me dump a bucket of water on your head and then I'm going to watch how you react.' And then they go, 'George is fun!'" Damon said.
Meanwhile, ever the jokester, in an interview Clooney called Angelina Jolie is a "horrible" and "ugly" person.
In an interview at Cannes, Clooney and Matt Damon joked "Brad has had it tough" between being "hobbled with children" and "that horrible, ugly wife." Clooney went on to say that Brad should just kill himself to get out of the horrendous situation.

Lohan's DUI and drugs trouble
Lindsay Lohan was arrested and cited for driving under the influence in Los Angeles in the wee hours of Saturday morning, say police, who also found a substance tentatively identified as "a usable amount of cocaine" in connection with the accident.
The 20-year-old actress was slightly injured when her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible struck a curb and shrub on Sunset Boulevard. The car suffered "major damage," according to police.
Lohan and two other people were in the vehicle when it crashed around 5:30 a.m., Lt. Mitch McCann, media relations officer for Beverly Hills police department, said during a press conference Saturday. The star was hospitalized for minor upper chest injuries. The passengers were not hurt.
Police learned of the accident when they received a 911 call at 5:30 a.m. There was also a witness on the scene, but police do not know if the same person called 911. By the time authorities responded, three minutes after the call, Lohan, her companions and the car were gone from the scene.
Lohan was later located by police at the Century City Hospital. Her car was found at a nearby condo complex and towed at 6:30 a.m. Police won't say how they know that the actress was driving, but say they're "confident" that she was.
At the press conference McCann said:
"A usable amount of an illegal narcotic tentatively identified as cocaine was recovered and booked." Police would not specify where the drugs were found.
"She was charged with a misdemeanor. There is a potential for additional charges."
The actress, who stars in the upcoming movie I Know Who Killed Me, was spotted out at the Hollywood hotspot Les Deux before the crash. She arrived around 11:15 p.m. with a group of friends, and was seen dancing and smoking.
Also at the club were singer James Blunt and Paris Hilton, who was recently ordered to 45 days in jail for violating her probation. Hilton was charged with a DUI in September 2006.

Johansson slams God-thanking actors
Scarlett Johansson has slammed stars who thank God when they win an award.
The stunning actress claims movie stars who mention God or Jesus in their acceptance speech are an embarrassment to the profession.
She said:
"Some people can be so goofy, especially the ones that say, 'I'd like to thank our Lord Jesus up above!'
I'm like, 'For the love of God, keep your mouth shut. That's why the world is so f***ed up because God is focusing solely on your career.'"
However, Scarlett admits she would probably make a fool of herself by crying if she ever won an Oscar.
She revealed to Britain's B magazine:
"If I won, I'd probably cry. I mean, it looks pretty overwhelming. And if you look around and see you mom crying, and your agent crying, well, you'd cry too."

American Idol Finale Viewers Drop

At least 29.5 million "American Idol" fans watched the finale of the hit talent show as 17-year-old Jordin Sparks was crowned the youngest winner yet in the program's history, preliminary numbers showed on Thursday.
The tally for Wednesday night's show was nearly 7 million fewer than the number of viewers who saw gray-haired soul crooner Taylor Hicks win the Fox network's prime-time amateur singing contest last year, Nielsen Media Research said.
Final numbers that come out later in the day are expected to be higher, Fox said, because the show ran about nine minutes late, and the early Nielsen ratings only capture viewership through the end of the broadcast's second hour.
The live, two-hour broadcast, featuring appearances by such recording stars as Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett and Green Day, as well as many past "Idol" winners, brought a dramatic close to the 2006-07 U.S. broadcast season.
By comparison, the second-season "Idol" finale in May 2003, when Ruben Studdard was crowned the winner, stands as the most watched of any episode of the series, averaging 38.1 million viewers.

Lohan is the new face of Jill Stuart

Lindsay Lohan might usually be seen in Gucci, Chanel or Prada, but come fall, she'll be hawking a whole new label: Jill Stuart.
The contemporary sportswear designer has snagged Lohan to be the face of its print ad campaign, which will hit August magazines and run through November. The campaign marks the first time Jill Stuart has chosen a celebrity for her ads.
"I can't say enough fantastic things about Lindsay," Stuart said of her choice to go with the starlet rather than a model. "She is sexy and smart, exactly what the Jill Stuart woman embodies."
The campaign, which was shot in Tokyo by Mario Sorrenti, showcases Lohan in a series of black-and-white images modeling products from the entire Jill Stuart assortment from the higher-end Jill Stuart line, the Jill by Jill Stuart collection and the handbags, which will launch in 100 department and specialty stores in June, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom. The ads showcase Lohan in a sensual state, as in one where she is in a bed, hugging the Emelle tote in black patent leather and wearing nothing much more than a sequin miniskirt.
"[Lindsay] resonates with the contemporary consumer on many levels," said Tim Schifter, chairman and chief executive officer of Schifter + Partners, the accessories firm that holds the license for Jill Stuart handbags and small leather goods. "Mario's photographs capture Lindsay's sensual beauty and Jill's modern fashion, and his choice of black and white adds glamour and intrigue to the images."

Jessica Simpson & John Mayer Split

It looks like Jessica Simpson and John Mayer are on the outs.
A source close to the singer-actress tells CBS News that the couple broke up last week. The source says that things may not be over for good since Simpson and Mayer have broken up before.
"They're still talking," the source said.
PEOPLE.com is reporting that the couple have been keeping in close contact, even as she is promoting her movie 'Major Movie Star' at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
"They talk to each other at least six times a day. I don't know if this breakup is permanent, but for right now they are broken up."
Simpson's rep, Lauren Auslander, told CBS that "we don't comment on our clients' personal lives."
The Web site TMZ reported Friday that Mayer was at the New York club Stereo by himself on Thursday night.
Another source who knows the couple confirms to PEOPLE that pair have split. "She's kind and sweet and he's a terrific guy, but it's safe to say it has run its course."
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton first reported news of a split on his blog.
The pair were hand in hand just over a week ago at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala on May 7 in New York City.
Word that Simpson and Mayer were an item began circulating last August but the couple were mum on the topic. Sometime after they began popping up at events.
They got quite cozy in the V.I.P at Christina Aguilera 's New Year's Eve bash at the Hudson Hotel in New York City. Simpson also recently spent time with Mayer in Italy.
Her divorce from singer Nick Lachey was finalized last June. Lachey is dating TV personality Vanessa Minnillo.

Kiera Knightly wants a fuller figure
Keira Knightley, who has battled rumors of an eating disorder, says she wishes she could put on weight in the right places.
For starters, the Oscar-nominated actress, who stars in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End, tells Britain's morning show GMTV, in an interview to air Monday: "I would love to have tits!"
Her ideal? "I would love to have Monica Bellucci's figure," Knightley, 22, says of the Italian model and Matrix movies actress. I'm never going to get it. I'm naturally who I am."
Also in the interview she firmly dismisses the idea of ever getting cosmetic surgery to enhance her figure. "'It's far too frightening. I couldn't."
That means that Knightley has no plans to alter her healthy diet and exercise regime in the hopes of packing on the pounds.
"Yes, I'd say that I do like to keep fit, only because I like to be able to run around and do things," she says. "I think that it would be great in the media if we saw a wider range of women of all ages, of all shapes and sizes."
This isn't the first time Knightley has publicly discussed her breasts – though the last time out, she was complaining that they were too big.
Last summer, with the release of King Arthur, she voiced her criticism over having her bosom digitally enhanced for the look of the movie poster. "Those things certainly weren't mine," FOX News quoted her as saying.
"[The studio marketing people] said, 'We want to make them slightly larger, and you'll get approval [of the photos].' And I was, like, 'OK, fine. I honestly don't give a s--t.'"

Paris's Jail Term Cut to 23 Days
Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said Wednesday.
The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.
Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.
Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.
The 26-year-old socialite was sentenced to jail this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.
A call to her lawyer, DUI specialist Richard Hutton, was not immediately returned. Her publicist, Elliot Mintz, declined to comment.

Calum Best kisses a model behind Lindsay's back
Model Sara Kova claims Calum Best, 26, who is currently dating Lindsay Lohan, kissed her in Bahamas nightclub Aura last Friday as Lindsay sat unaware close by.
Kova told the New York Daily News newspaper:
"We'd exchanged looks. I was walking to the ladies' room when I passed him walking from the men's room. He gave me a smile. Then he put his hands on my hips and turned me toward the wall, like he was a cop who was about to frisk me. He held my hands so my butt would be pressed against his crotch.
"I turned to move away. Then he grabbed by jaw and planted a kiss. I giggled. OK, I might have been a little intoxicated, but I was also shocked. I didn't know this guy's name. The whole time, no words were spoken. Finally, I walked away. After I came out of the bathroom, I went back to the main room, and saw this same guy kissing Lindsay Lohan. She was kind of straddling him. I said to myself, 'What just happened here?' "
Calum - the son of the late soccer legend George Best - has developed a reputation for being a notorious womaniser.
He has previously dated Kimberly Stewart, Elizabeth Jagger, Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding and Patsy Kensit, the ex-wife of Oasis singer Liam Gallagher.

Paris Hilton's new home
Paris Hilton has been shunned by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. But she may be welcomed by another high profile politician. Schwarzenegger said that he was too busy for Paris but a sheriff in Arizona says he would love to help Paris out.
Paris Hilton meet Joe Arpaio. He has been dubbed America's toughest sheriff runs an outdoor jail in Arizona dubbed tent city.
It is a stripped down jail where inmates are housed in actual military type tents in downtown Phoenix where the temperatures can easily hit 110 degrees and higher in June and July.
Paris Hilton is scheduled to begin her sentence on June 5th. KTVK Channel 3 is reporting that the heiress to the Hilton Hotel fortune may be headed to that very Maricopa County jail.
Because of some serious overcrowding in Los Angeles, there are concerns that Hilton may not serve all of the 45 days that she has been sentenced to – and she may be shipped to Arizona for her entire sentence.
The television station claims that Arpaio says he's spoken to the chief of jails in Los Angeles offering to house Hilton at Tent City. Arpaio loves publicity and this would be a move he would push for, though it's still unclear if Paris would be able to do he time in Arizona. Inmates at tent city wear old time prison garb, including stripes. They sometimes work on chain gangs picking up trash on the side of the road in sweltering heat.
And according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff is considering the proposal.

Lindsay and Calum in the Bahamas
Lindsay Lohan's romance with lothario Calum Best has gone into overdrive.
Two weeks into their rekindled romance - which has already seen Best meet Lohan's mother Dina - the pair have slipped off for a romantic getaway in the Bahamas.
Frolicking along the beach, the loved up couple could barely keep their hands off each other.
Lohan, 20, squealed with delight as they splashed around the water, and stole kisses and cuddles from her new man.
At one point, she did find herself a little overexposed as her bikini top slipped down, giving onlookers an eyeful.
The couple were in the Bahamas to attend a VIP party at the exclusive Atlantis Hotel.
Signs might be pointing to a serious relationship, but even Best's agent isn't convinced it will last.
Best's spokesperson Dave Read told The Sun: "Calum and Lindsay get on really well together. But this is Calum. We’ll have to see."
Best, 26, is notorious for his heart-breaker ways - he's been linked to model Kimberley Stewart, Jodie Marsh and Girls Aloud bombshell Sarah Harding, among others.
But Lohan is not to be outdone - her rumoured love interests include James Blunt, Robbie Williams, Jamie Burke, and Paris Hilton's former flame Stavros Niarchos.
Lohan and Best first met in London last November when she was in town to host the World Music Awards.

T.R. Knight was told not to come out

Before Grey's Anatomy star T. R. Knight came out last year, some advised him not to do it, he says in a new interview.
While friends were "beautifully supportive," Knight, 34, tells The Advocate in its June 19 issue, others cautiously advised him, "Don't do it – don't do it now."
Looking back, he says:
"I remember saying to someone when I got one of those 'don't do it' [comments] – I just remember hearing my voice being calm and saying, 'No, it's going happen. It's going to happen. I'm just letting you know.' "
Ultimately, he's glad he decided to come out after castmate Isaiah Washington referred to him on-set by a homophobic slur.
"I made the decision to make a statement," he says. "I could have not [spoken up]. I could have retreated. But I'm definitely happy I made the decision."
Since coming out, Knight, who plays the unassuming Dr. George O'Malley on the hit ABC drama, has seen his character marry Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) and bed fellow M.D.'s Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl).
Off camera, Heigl is a close friend, but she says he came out to her gradually.
"There came a point where we were close enough friends that he would just talk about dates or about other guys."
"I wasn't shocked or surprised. ... It was more just like, 'Oh, okay, now I know why you don't want to go out with me.' "
But Knight, who is single insists coming out hasn't much affected his love life. He says with a laugh that he still assumes people aren't interested in him, but notes:
"Too much aggression isn't a good thing either."

Scarlett Johansson spotted crying
Scarlett Johansson reportedly burst into tears at a New York fundraiser on Monday night.
The blonde actress was seen sobbing in the bathroom at the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala, before being comforted by British designer Stella McCartney, it has been claimed.
A source told the New York Daily newspaper:
"She was crying to Stella - not hysterical, confused. It was about 10.30 p.m., after Jennifer Hudson performed. They walked back from the bathroom together."
The reason for the "Match Point" actress' tears is unknown. Scarlett, 22, and Stella - the daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul, chatted until Scarlett was ready to dry her eyes and rejoin the party.
Scarlett and Stella arrived at the event together, where other guests included Lindsay Lohan and Julianne Moore.
Scarlett's ex-lover Josh Hartnett, was also at the party. The sexy star dated her "The Black Dahlia" co-star for two years before they split last year, blaming their hectic work schedules.

Lindsay Lohan can get away with anything
The producer of Lindsay Lohan's new movie, Georgia Rule, famously scolded her in a letter for missing work last summer – but the film's director says he was the one who requested the reprimand.
Garry Marshall said on Tuesday at the movie's New York City premiere:
"Once somebody walks on my set, it's my problem, but we can't go chasing them," "This film is low-budget. We can't lose days. ... Tough love is a part of this business – she missed a day on the second week of shooting."
So at Marshall's request, Morgan Creek Productions chief James G. Robinson sent Lohan a stern letter calling her absences from the set "irresponsible and unprofessional" and blaming her "all-night heavy partying" for her "so-called 'exhaustion.' " The letter quickly made headlines when it was posted on The Smoking Gun's Web site.
But it did the trick. Marshall said:
"Jim wrote the memo, and she came the next day and we were fine."
Asked about a recent video that allegedly shows Lohan, 20, using cocaine, Marshall said:
"Any publicity is good publicity, but in this case, I think it distorts what a good actress Lindsay is."
Robinson himself also came to Lohan's defense at Tuesday's premiere.
"I wrote that letter six times. I started out being pissed off. There was anger in some drafts, but I think I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish. And from that day on, she didn't miss any time. She came to work on time, knew her lines and, boy, she's a fantastic actor. She's probably one of the most talented."
Asked about the alleged video footage, Robinson expressed sympathy for Lohan.
"She's 20 years old, one of the most famous women in the world. That's a lot for someone. ... She's a good person. She's a nice person. She is not a little bitch. She's a nice, decent person. She just likes to stay out too late at night."

LOST to end in 2010

The end is in sight for ABC's acclaimed island mystery Lost, but fans will have to wait until 2010 for all the answers.
In a highly unusual move, the network announces plans today to end the show after three more shortened seasons of 16 episodes each. The episodes will air consecutively, repeat-free, from February to May.
ABC's bold step marks a response to the show's producers, who have been eager to set a finish line to better plot out their convoluted mystery of plane-crash survivors and to placate fans who are frustrated that the show seemed to be vamping its way to a conclusion.
Co-creator Damon Lindelof said in an exclusive interview:
"Among fans there was an unease that they were making an investment in a show that's complicated without any sense of where that's going to lead them. From the very beginning, fans and even critics have been saying, 'Are you making it up as you go along?' " which was "a legitimate question."

Paris dumps her publicist
Paris Hilton has parted ways with her long-time publicist, Elliot Mintz, as a result of the guilty verdict she received in an LA court on Friday.
The 26-year-old was sentenced to 45 days in jail after violating the terms of her probation following a September DUI charge. She was pulled over twice by police earlier this year for driving with a suspended license. During the two-hour hearing at an LA court on Friday, Paris blamed Mintz for her mistake, telling the judge her publicist had told her that her license was only suspended for 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters.
But prosecutors disagreed. "This is about the fault of Ms. Hilton," said Deputy City Atty. David A. Bozanich. "She knew [she couldn't drive], and she did it anyway."
Paris, who was shocked by the guilty verdict and left court with a tear-streaked face, is planning to appeal. She was spotted having lunch on Saturday with her parents, Rick and Kathy, who were attempting to console their visibly distressed daughter.
Calls to Mintz for comment were not returned.

Britney Spears' comeback performance
Britney Spears performed live late Tuesday night for the first time in nearly three years with a 14-minute set for screaming fans in San Diego.
After a career break that featured a marriage, two children, divorce and rehab, Spears, in a black wig and white pleated miniskirt, took to the stage at the San Diego House of Blues at about 10:15 p.m.
Security guards rushed to the edge of the stage to hold back the fans. Spears then began her set, lip-syncing her hits "... Baby One More Time," "Do Somethin'," "I'm a Slave 4 U," "Breathe on Me" and "Toxic."
The show featured rapid-fire costume changes, back-up dancers and light and smoke effects. Spears's Pussycat Dolls-style choreography included plenty of quick, sexy hip-hop moves, head spins, twirls and rump-shaking.
Rumors that Spears had been planning a comeback performance had been swirling for days. Last week, she was reportedly scheduled to perform three songs at the Hollywood club Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce, but plans fell through at the last minute.
The owner of the Millennium Dance Complex, where Spears has been training regularly for the last few weeks, says the singer has been working on material which resembles her earlier hits.
Robert Baker said:
"They'll be in the style we are all used to, the pop thing. But she's got bigger plans brewing, with music and dancing that's a break from her old stuff. She's really excited about that."
As for Tuesday's show, a source says it was just the beginning: "It's kind of warming up. That's probably the best way to describe it."
Spears's last major performance was in June 2004 during her Onyx Hotel Tour in Dublin, Ireland, which was cut short when she injured her knee.
Spears is also planning several other performances this week, including shows at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Calif., on Wednesday, the Los Angeles House of Blues on Thursday and the House of Blues Las Vegas inside Mandalay Bay on Sunday.
She isn't planning to perform any new songs during the mini-tour.
