Reiner: Gibson must do some major soul-searching

Mel Gibson's apology for making drunken anti-Semitic remarks isn't enough to redeem him, actor-producer Rob Reiner said.
The actor also must acknowledge that "his work reflects anti-Semitism," particularly the 2004 hit movie "The Passion of the Christ," Reiner told Associated Press Radio.
"When he comes to the understanding that he has done that, and can come out and say, you know, 'My views have been reflected in my work and I feel bad that I've done that,' then that will be the beginning of some reconciliation for him."
"It's not a matter of just apologizing for some words you've said, it's to really understand why it is you're anti-Semitic and where those feelings came from."
"I believe that people can be redeemed and people can change, but that's going to be a very long process," he added.
Some critics attacked Gibson's movie as portraying Jews as evil. Supporters said the movie was merely being faithful to Gospel accounts of Jesus' arrest and crucifixion.
A call to Gibson's publicist seeking comment was not immediately returned Friday.
Gibson publicly apologized for an anti-Semitic tirade he unleashed when he was arrested for drunken driving in Malibu on July 28. He has called the remarks "despicable."
Earlier this month, Gibson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge in a deal that calls for alcohol rehabilitation, fines and probation.

Pop superstar Beyonce Knowles' father Matthew has lashed out at the endless speculation surrounding his daughter before her upcoming album launch. Matthew, who is also Beyonce's manager, is convinced that there is a deliberate campaign against his daughter in an attempt to ruin her career.
He fumes, "It kills me that there is a plan by some to create chaos around Beyonce's B'DAY album release on September 5 (06) in the US.
"What will be next? Beyonce's cut off all her hair? Dyed it green? Maybe she's singing the songs in reverse with some hidden subliminal message."

Wentworth Miller talks about Season 2
Wentworth Miller sat down with Dish in an exclusive interview to tell us about his hiatus, international popularity, and Season Two.
After last season's filming ended, I heard you took a cross-country trip back home. How’d it go?
Just me, and a box of Munchkins from Dunkin’ Donuts riding shotgun. I stopped off in Santa Fe, which is a beautiful little city, and apparently where hippies go to die.
What did you do during your hiatus? Film any movies?
Prison Break is an international hit now, so for what it’s worth, my name is on the list or at the very bottom, of the list of actor’s whose name’s “matter”. The show has opened a lot of doors for me, but as far as my hiatus, I chose to walk through none of them, because the show is my priority, and I wanted to make sure I’d give just as much energy and enthusiasm second season, as I did first season.
Are you surprised at the show’s popularity?
What did surprise me is how powerful a medium television is. Everyone’s got TV sets. We’ve got fans all over the country. It’s a real pleasure talking to them because what they’re telling you when they say, ‘I don’t miss an episode’ is ‘I make time for you and your story and your work in my life every week’, and it’s the highest compliment.
What about your popularity?
It’s a double-edged sword. Obviously, I have a calling card that works quite well in certain situations. I was at the mall the other week and a woman came up to me, very polite, very respectful, a fan of the show. She wanted to take my picture, and she had her camera cell phone as they all do. She wanted to take the picture herself, so she kind of sidled up to me, and I put my arm around her. But [she] couldn’t take the picture because it was shaking like a maraca—she was that nervous. I could feel her vibrating next to me, and it was making me nervous. She had to ask a complete stranger to take the picture for her, and as soon as the picture was taken, as soon as she had the image in her camera, she stopped looking at me. She continued interacting with me, but she looked at the image on her camera. She said goodbye to the image on her camera. I could probably write an essay on the disconnect between perception and image and reality. It was a very strange moment to stand there and realize that someone who, five seconds ago, wanted nothing more than to come up and acknowledge you and your work, now very much wanted the experience to be over with because it was almost as though she couldn’t handle the real me standing there.
Does being popular bother you?
We were talking about this on set the other day, me and Dominic, and what we determined is that they don’t pay us to act. They pay us to act as Diplomats, and Ambassadors, and Politicians, and Publicists and all of those other things that go along with being an actor on a successful TV show.
But don’t you miss your privacy?
You don’t want to embarrass yourself, you think twice about picking your nose in public. There is a small sacrifice in terms of anonymity and privacy, but you never know what you’re going to be asked to sacrifice until it’s already been sacrificed. There’s so many pros to the job, so many perks, so many doors that have opened for me, that I really can’t complain.

Brandon Routh is engaged

The Superman Returns actor, Brandon Routh, 26, has apparently proposed earlier this month to his girlfriend Courtney Ford with a sparkler from LA jeweller Neil Lane.
The lovebirds met when hunky Brandon worked as a barman at the rehearsal dinner for Courtney's brother's wedding.
Even a five-month separation while Routh was shooting Superman in Australia posed no problems for the pair.
Romantic Brandon told People that Courtney, 28, is his personal kryptonite.
"She brings me to my knees," he said.
The couple co-star in the upcoming short film, Denial - a chance to see some of that chemistry on the big screen.

Brad and Angelina are growing apart

They are often refered to as the sexiest couple in Hollywood, but family and friends are afraid that Brad and Angelina will no longer be 'Brangelina' for all that much longer.
Hollywood's do-gooder duo have reportedly not been keen on the constant fights and bouts that have been putting an increasing amount of strain on their relationship, reports Zee News.
The pillow-lipped beauty is said to be cracking under the pressure of not only post-natal depression, but also the stress induced by her mother's illness, not to mention the constant media attention on them and their brood, according to news.com.au.
Angelina Jolie recently indicated that she desired to escape the media circus that surrounds her, and spend some 'quality' time travelling in Africa while teaching her children about being 'citizens of the world' - an idea Brad has not been real happy with.
A pal is quoted by the British Daily Mail:
My concern is that Angelina thinks Brad is completely on the same page and wants the same things, and I don't think he does. There's no doubt he is in love with her, but she carries a lot of baggage.
She is most definitely not normal and that's one of the appealing things about her, but I think it takes someone pretty special as a partner to be able to deal with that. I think she just wants to run away.

Paris Hilton To Host America’s Cutest Pup

Paris Hilton is going to host a dog show looking for America’s cutest puppy. To enter, dogs have to be between four and eight months old. Tinkerbell is a co-host and therefore disqualified to enter. Paris is reportedly getting paid millions for the show.
Paris, 25, will oversee owners as they parade their precious puppies for US viewers to vote on.
And the job, her biggest TV role so far, will see the mega-rich blonde get her paws on MORE millions.
A source said: “It will be a bit like the new Liza Tarbuck TV show Britain’s Top Dog — except the emphasis will be on cute little dogs rather than daft mutts.
“Contestants from all around the United States will enter their beloved hounds into a national competition to find the best. Viewers will vote for their favourites and Paris will host.”
The show has been commissioned by the W Network in America — and will come to Britain in the future.
Auditions are being held across the States next month.
An advertisement for would-be contestants read: “If you think your puppy is the most adorable puppy in all America, this might be your opportunity to show him or her off.”

Heather is refused access to Paul's home
Heather Mills has moved into a $1 million (550,000 GBP) converted barn following her split from Sir Paul McCartney
Sir Paul McCartney had refused his estranged wife Heather Mills access to his English country home, forcing her to collect their daughter Beatrice from a nearby hotel.
The former Beatle insisted Mills picked up the two-year-old tot from the Flackley Ash Hotel, which is situated less than one kilometre from his Peasmarsh estate.
McCartney had been looking after Beatrice for the past week and sent her to the hotel with her nanny, where Mills arrived in a helicopter and flew her daughter to Heathrow airport where they were due to catch a flight.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror:
"Paul made it very clear he didn't want her at the main house for the handover.
"Heather wasn't angry or upset - she just shrugged her shoulders and said, 'If he wants to play it that way, then let him.'"

Boob-groping Harry
By Derek Brown
Party loving Princes William and Harry hugged drunkenly for the camera during a booze-fuelled night out with chums.
Royal heir William, 24, looked dazed and wide-eyed as the flash went off — while brother Harry leered merrily over his shoulder.
Harry was also snapped canoodling with pretty blonde Natalie Pinkham, while saucily groping her boob with one hand.
Meanwhile William was caught trying a more “tactful” approach with another party girl as they chatted in the background.
The fun-loving shots were taken this summer in trendy London nightclub Boujis — a favourite haunt for the princes.
And they may leave Harry with a little explaining to do to girlfriend Chelsy Davy, who was abroad at the time.
A fellow reveller at the club in posh Kensington said: “Harry was really going for it.
“He had been downing drink all night and was touchy-feely with everyone — especially Natalie. He had his hands all over her and was kissing her on the face. At one point he reached his arm around her and gave her a proper grope on her breast.
“She was very shocked but didn’t seem to mind in the slightest. I don’t suppose it’s every day an heir to the throne feels you up.
“He will probably be in big trouble with Chelsy now. She either hasn’t seen him behave like this or she’s the most understanding girlfriend in the world.”
Harry, 21, was also snapped planting a kiss on another girl.
Natalie, 27, has been a close pal for years. The politics graduate has dated England cricketer Kevin Pietersen and England rugby star Matt Dawson.
Two months ago Natalie stole down the steps of a flat’s stairwell at 5am after a boozy night to grab a kiss from the Prince.

Kate Moss is back with Pete Doherty
Kate Moss is rumoured to have rekindled her romance with Babyshambles rocker Pete Doherty.
The pair, who split in the wake of the supermodel's cocaine expose last year, have reportedly spent several nights together at Kate's plush country home - and have been having steamy "phone sex" when they're apart.
A source told Britain's News of the World newspaper:
"It's the news Kate's been trying to hide, but it's true they're spending more and more time together.
"Lots of people will find this hard to understand but Kate has deep feelings for Pete and she's not going to throw them away."
"Pete's like a love-sick teenager all over again. They've been talking a lot on the phone and have had phone sex. She giggles about how turned on they both get."
But the supermodel - who checked into rehab after images of her snorting cocaine were published - is said to have warned the troubled singer she'll leave him if he touches drugs again.
The source revealed: "She's told Doherty he has four weeks to show her he can keep out of trouble and away from drugs.
"She is worried about being tarnished with unpredictable Pete just when everything's on the right track with her career and daughter."

Charlize Theron's boyfriend's a jerk
Charlize Theron was reportedly reduced to tears when her partner, actor Stuart Townsend, erupted in a Hollywood restaurant after she arrived 45 minutes late.
A source was quoted in Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "Charlize sat tear-eyed as Stuart acted like a schoolmaster, lecturing her in front of their friends - like she was a tardy student."
The couple - who have been dating for five years - had agreed to meet at the plush Hungry Cat diner before attending a Radiohead concert.
The source added: "Charlize kept trying to apologise, but he wouldn’t let it go, calling her rude in front of their two guests. She kept pleading, ‘I’m so sorry I was late, and I’m sorry you had to wait. But I’m here now.’"
The couple eventually settled the row and made up before heading off to the concert.

Buxbaum declined to elaborate beyond the statement.

Is Pamela Anderson pregnant already?

Pamela Anderson got tongues wagging in Hollywood after hinting she was pregnant with hew husband Kid Rock's baby on a radio show.
The former Baywatch beauty wed the rocker in a St. Tropez, France, yacht ceremony last month and legally became Mrs. Robert Ritchie on Thursday.
Less than a week after her nuptials, Anderson phoned into American Idol host Ryan Seacrest's daily radio breakfast show on Friday, insisting, "I've never been happier."
And when Seacrest asked about the couple's plans to extend their family and have a child together, the actress/model giggled, "There might be one in there now."
Anderson confirmed the wedding was legal after officials in St. Tropez pointed out the boat ceremony was illegal because neither bride nor groom lived in France.
She revealed, "We just hit the courtroom yesterday on the way to the airport."

Fattening diet for Victoria
David Beckham has put his wife on a specific diet to "fatten her up".
Victoria Beckham is undertaking a carbohydrate-packed eating plan, in the hope of conceiving a fourth child.
The footballer has taken the advice of nutritional specialists after he became concerned at his wife's weight. They were told that menstruation can be affected by size, and Victoria's current frame could prevent her becoming pregnant again.
A source said: "David knows that Victoria struggles with her body image and thrives on being thin - but he is desperate to see her with a few more curves. David has pleaded with her in the past to put on weight, but now he's finally taken serious action and given her a diet plan to ensure that she fattens up."
'Victoria's agreed to go along with it because she and David are happier than ever at the moment and also because she is desperate to conceive. After having three sons, who they love dearly, both of them would absolutely love a little girl to dote on.'

Paul McCartney freezes joint account

Sir Paul McCartney has reportedly frozen his joint account with estranged wife Heather Mills, over fears she will plunder their finances for herself .
British newspapers The Sun, The Mirror and Daily Mail claim the former Beatle, 64, has recently discovered a series of four and five-figure withdrawals from the account.
The couple are currently preparing for a divorce battle, with Mills fighting for a share of the veteran rocker's vast fortune.
A source tells The Sun, "Sir Paul was disgusted by the obscene amounts of money Heather was withdrawing. It seems she is determined to spend money while she has the chance before the divorce goes through."
Another source quoted in the Mail says, "He has always been very generous with his money, especially towards Heather and their charities, but now that they are divorcing, the maxim 'What's mine is yours' no longer applies.
"When Heather recently went to draw out some more cash on her credit card, she was mortified to discover that she'd been barred."

Mel Gibson is homophobic too

After spending the week trying to convince the public that he’s not an anti-Semite, Mel Gibson is now being accused of homophobia. MSNBC reports that The Passion of the Christ director made anti-gay comments during an interview that took place 14 years ago.
When Spanish newspaper El Pais asked Gibson about homosexuals in 1992, he shot back: “They take it up the a—.” Then pointing at his behind, he said, “This is only for taking a s—t.” He told the reporter that he was once worried that if he became an actor, people would think he was gay.
“But with this look, who’s going to think I’m gay?” he asked. “It would be hard to take me for someone like that. Do I sound like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them?”
After some people were offended by his comments, Playboy magazine asked the actor if he would apologize. “I’ll apologize when hell freezes over,” he told the mag.
Later, when the Washington Post asked Gibson if he was “tolerant,” he replied: “Ahhh, I like to think I am. Perhaps I’m not.”

Mel Gibson's statement in full

Actor and director Mel Gibson has apologised for the anti-Semitic words he used during his arrest for drink-driving. Here is his full statement:
There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark.
I want to apologise specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI (driving under the influence) charge.
I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena.
As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologise directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words.
I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable
The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life.
Every human being is God's child, and if I wish to honour my God I have to honour his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith.
I'm not just asking for forgiveness.
I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community, with whom I can have a one-on-one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing.
I have begun an ongoing programme of recovery and what I am now realising is that I cannot do it alone.
I am in the process of understanding where those vicious words came from during that drunken display, and I am asking the Jewish community, whom I have personally offended, to help me on my journey through recovery.
Again, I am reaching out to the Jewish community for its help. I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable.
But I pray that that door is not forever closed.
This is not about a film. Nor is it about artistic licence. This is about real life and recognising the consequences hurtful words can have.
It's about existing in harmony in a world that seems to have gone mad.

Shannen Doherty wants to sue Star
Shannen Doherty was reduced to tears last week after seeing a US tabloid magazine cover declaring she'd had drastic plastic surgery, and is planning to sue the magazine.
American publication Star featured Doherty on the cover with the headline "Extreme Makeover" and insinuated that she'd had a variety of plastic surgery procedures. She appeared on US talk show The View as a guest co-host today where she lashed out at the tabloid and said she had hired a lawyer to sue the publication.
"I'm actually willing to go so far as to go sit down with whatever plastic surgeon they want to put in front of me who can inspect my face. " I went to work and my lovely hairdresser David came to me and said, 'Oh my God, did you see the cover of Star?' and I went, 'No, why?' He told me and then he pulled it up online." Doherty was left so distraught by the story, that production had to be stopped on her new series, Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty.
She explains, "Production got halted for about an hour and a half because I was sobbing uncontrollably. "If you didn't have it (plastic surgery) and they're saying that you did, then it's embarrassing, it's humiliating. "I don't know if anybody's noticed, but I've pretty much been hiding out as much as humanly possible. I've been trying to stay out of the press because I just don't want it in my life anymore. "I hired a litigator and I'm willing to put as much money behind a lawsuit as humanly possible, just to sort of teach them a lesson."
